Baker Mat Club Terms of Participation
Practice:
- Be on time.
- Bring a good attitude.
- Help with cleaning the mats.
- Take care of injuries prior to practice.
- Practice with intensity. In tournaments you will wrestle at the level that you practice. Practice Hard = Compete Hard.
- Make no excuses, only you are responsible for yourself.
- If you have a problem, talk to one of your coaches before or after practice and hopefully it can be resolved.
- Never quit. If something is bothering you come to your coach, that is what we are here for.
- Set a goal for every practice…today I will take down Tommy Belding, today I will not get pinned by Trent Ashby.
- Wear appropriate practice gear that is CLEAN such as shorts and t-shirt we want to avoid staph, ringworm, impetigo.
- Take a shower as soon as you get home from practice/competition & dry off completely
- After Oct. 23rd all doors will be closed until the final 15 minutes of practice. We need to alleviate distractions and must have a closed practice in order to run an efficient program. If parents need in the room or need to pick up their wrestler early simply knock on the door and someone will let you in. Beginning Nov. 16th Practice schedule will shift to 6-7:30 pm due to High School Wrestling.
- Entry Fee’s for tournaments are due at the end of practice on Thursday’s each week. Cost is $5, this needs to be turned in or you will not be entered into the tournament. We must send a roster in due by 10pm on Thursday evenings so the Club hosting the tournaments can begin organizing brackets.
- Trim your fingernails.
Matches:
- Wrestler’s/Coaches will wear their club shirts/shorts & singlets to tournaments.
- Be on time and ready to go! This means wrestling gear on. We will keep you informed of times.
- We will show good sportsmanship. Wrestlers will shake the hand of their opponent and opponents coach at the end of every match. After the match you will discuss what you did well and what you need to improve on with your coach.
- You will not discuss any call’s with the referee. Despite a bad call wrestle your best. It is the coach’s job to talk to the referee.
- At the end of every round you will look toward your coach for your choice top/bottom/neutral or defer.
- Respect team gear and others.
- No wrestler’s or parents at the edge of the mat. Please remain in the stands.
- When you go out of bounds keep wrestling until the whistle blows. After the referee calls out of bounds we will run to the center of the mat to resume wrestling.
- Do your very best. Win or lose if you tried your hardest you can hold your head high.
- Believe that you will win.
- Take a shower right after you get home.
- Never talk to your opponent before your match.
- No late entries for tournaments.
